How we rank Puchong pet groomers
How we rank Puchong pet groomers
Puchong Pet Groomers lists and ranks 137 pet grooming businesses across Puchong, covering areas from Puchong Perdana and Pusat Bandar Puchong to Bandar Puteri and IOI Boulevard. Every ranking position is produced by the same rubric, applied the same way to every business. Here is exactly how it works.
The composite score (0-100)
Each business receives a single score between 0 and 100. That score is built from five measured signals. Nothing else feeds into it.
| Signal | Weight | What we measure |
|---|---|---|
| Rating | 30% | The business's aggregate Google star rating |
| Sentiment | 28% | Synthesis of recent review themes: praise versus complaints |
| Volume | 20% | Total number of reviews, log-scaled |
| Recency | 14% | How recently customers have left reviews |
| Completeness | 8% | Whether a phone number, website, opening hours, and address are listed |
Why each signal matters for a pet groomer
Rating (30%): A groomer's star average is the most direct summary of how paying customers felt. For a service as personal as grooming your dog or cat, consistent high ratings across many visits carry real weight.
Sentiment (28%): Raw stars do not tell the full story. A business sitting at 4.2 stars might draw consistent praise for gentle handling but repeated complaints about long wait times or missed appointments. We synthesise the themes in recent reviews to surface that texture. We do not republish individual reviews verbatim. For the source reviews, we link directly to Google.
Volume (20%): A groomer with 300 reviews gives you far more signal than one with 4. We log-scale this measure so that a business is not penalised harshly for being new, but a handful of reviews will never equal hundreds of them. The difference matters.
Recency (14%): A 4.8-star average built entirely on reviews from three years ago is less useful than a 4.5 built on reviews from last month. Staff change, ownership changes, and standards shift. Recent reviews reflect the business as it operates today.
Completeness (8%): A groomer that publishes its phone number, address, opening hours, and website is easier to contact and verify. Missing basic information is itself a minor signal about how the business presents itself to new customers.
Low-confidence scores
Any business with few reviews or no recent activity receives a low-confidence label on its listing. This means the score is mathematically valid but statistically thin. We flag it clearly so you can factor that in before booking. We do not hide low-scored or thinly reviewed businesses, but we do not pretend their scores carry the same weight as a groomer with a long, recent track record.
Paid placement
Some listings on this directory carry paid placements that improve their visual prominence. Every paid placement is labelled explicitly on the listing. Paid placement does not change a business's score and does not change its position in any ranked list, including our best dog groomers in Puchong list. Rankings are earned from the rubric above, and only from that rubric.
Where the data comes from
Ratings, review counts, and recency signals are drawn from Google. Business details (phone, address, hours, website) are sourced from public Google Business profiles. We update our data regularly, but there may be a short lag between a change on Google and a change reflected here. If you spot an error in a listing, use the contact link on that business's page to flag it.
FAQ
- Can a business pay to get a higher score?
- No. Paid placement affects visual prominence only and is always labelled. The composite score is calculated from the five signals in the rubric above and cannot be bought or adjusted.
- Why does a highly rated groomer appear lower in the rankings than I expected?
- Rating is only 30% of the score. A groomer with a strong star average but very few recent reviews, or with negative sentiment themes in those reviews, may score lower overall than a groomer with a slightly lower average and a larger, more recent body of positive feedback.
- What does the low-confidence label mean?
- It means the business has too few reviews, or reviews that are too old, for the score to be statistically reliable. The score is still shown, but we flag it so you know to do extra research, such as calling ahead or asking for recommendations locally, before booking.
- How often is the data updated?
- We refresh ratings, review counts, and business details on a rolling basis. There may be a short lag between a change appearing on Google and it being reflected in a listing here. If something looks out of date, use the flag link on the business page.
